Terms and Conditions – GP19 PitchFest
The RACGP invites you to enter its PitchFest event! PitchFest is your opportunity to pitch your idea for a product, service or technology that enhances the day-to-day experience of doctors and their patients in general practice.
The final round of the PitchFest event will take place at the GP19 conference, GP19 conference, Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000. A prize will be awarded to the Winner.
Your participation in the promotion constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions (T&Cs) and you warrant that you meet the entry requirements.
The promotional period begins at 9:00am on 16 May 2019 and ends on 5:00pm on 30 August 2019. Entries must be submitted during the promotional period.
The promotion is a game of skill.
The promoter is The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Ltd, 100 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne VIC 3002 ABN 34 000 223 807 (RACGP / we / us).
Entry to the promotion is open to individuals who reside in Australia and are aged 18 years and over.
Directors, management, employees, officers and contractors (and their immediate families) of the promoter or of the agencies or companies associated with this promotion are ineligible. “Immediate families” means spouse, parent, guardian, natural or adopted child, and sibling (whether natural or adopted by a parent), whether or not they live in the same household as the director, manager, employee, officer or contractor.
How to enter
To enter the promotion, you must complete and submit the online registration information for PitchFest housed at gp19.com.au. As part of the online registration process, you may provide a written publication (not exceeding 3 sides of A4 pages) or a PowerPoint presentation (not exceeding 20 slides) providing an overview of a business idea for a product, service or technology that enhances the healthcare sector and patients.
Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into our database not at the time of transmission by you. To the extent permitted by law, we assume no responsibility for failure to receive entries; inaccurate information; or loss, damage or injury in connection with conducting this promotion as a result of technical/telecommunications problems (including security breaches, technical website malfunctions or glitches) or acts/omissions of our servants or agents involved in conducting this promotion. In the event of such problems or conduct, we may modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the promotion.
Multiple entries are allowed but each entry must relate to a different product, service or technology. Entrants are only eligible to win one (1) prize in the promotion.
Entries that, in the promoter’s judgment, contain offensive, defamatory or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate material or that infringe any third party rights will be invalid.
We may not be able to assess your entry if it is incomplete, incomprehensible or illegible. We may disqualify anyone who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process.
All entries must be your original work and must not infringe upon any copyright, moral rights, privacy or any other intellectual property rights of any person or entity. Entries must not have been entered in any other contest, competition or promotion, must not have won previous awards and must not have been published previously.
By entering the competition entrants grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable licence to the promoter for the use, reproduction, modification, adaption, publishing and display of their entry for an unlimited period and without remuneration for the promoter’s promotional and business purposes.
First round - selecting finalists
The first round draw involves selecting up to 10 finalists to present their “Pitch” at the GP19 conference on Saturday 26 October 2019. All eligible entries will be judged by the promoter’s panel of judges. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Relevancy to general practice and/or healthcare.
- How well the products, service or technology solves problems (stated or unstated).
- Operation and interaction design of the product, service or technology.
- How well the product, service or technology assists general practitioners, general practice or patients in their everyday activities.
- Marketability of the product, service or technology.
Finalists will be selected by 16 September 2019 at the RACGP Head Office, 100 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne VIC 3002 and the finalists will be notified by email on 17 September 2019. The RACGP’s decision is final and we will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
Finalists must confirm their intention to proceed to the second round by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday 24 October 2019, 10.00 am AEST. If they do not do so, the opportunity to present at the PitchFest event will be forfeited.
Finalists already attending GP19 may present their Pitch in person. Finalists not attending GP19 will be required to present their Pitch remotely via skype or other video conferencing technology.
The RACGP will publish the name of the finalists on its website and RACGP newsGP website from 18 September to midnight, 24 October 2019.
Second round - selecting winners
The finalists will present their “Pitch” in person from 10:45am on 26 October 2019 to a panel of judges selected by the RACGP at the PitchFest event. The “Pitch” is a five minute presentation of the working prototype of the product, service or technology described in the entry. The order of pitches will be decided by a random number generator.
Once all pitches have been presented, the panel of judges will select a winner based on the idea the judges consider to have the greatest potential benefit to general practice.
The winner will be notified in person by 5:00pm on 26 October 2019.
Our decision is final and we will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
We will also advise the winners in writing of the prize via email. We will publish the winner’s name on our website and the newsGP website for a minimum period of 28 days. The prize will be paid or transferred to the winner within 28 days after the draw.
If for any reason a finalist does not take part in the “Pitch” on Saturday 26 October 2019 then the opportunity to present will be forfeited.
The winner will receive 2 nights of accommodation, economy class flights from the winner’s nearest capital city to the GP20 conference venue (to be announced) and full conference registration to the RACGP’s GP20 conference and $1000 spending money, valued at approximately $4010.00 (GST exclusive) in total.
Unless expressly stated, all other expenses become the responsibility of the winner.
The prize will be awarded in the name of the official entrant and is non-transferable.
The prize must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. The prize cannot be redeemed for cash, on-sold at a premium, packaged or otherwise used for advertising, promotional or other commercial purposes.
If we are unable to supply the prize, we may supply an alternative prize of equal or greater value to the original prize if the Winner agrees in writing; or if the original prize is unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control and we have been unable to reach agreement with the winner despite reasonable attempts to do so.
As a condition of winning, the winners may be required by the promoter to sign any legal documentation as determined by the promoter in its absolute discretion as a condition of acceptance of their prize, including but not limited to a legal release and indemnity form.
We may cancel the Promotion and/or hold the Promotion multiple times at our own discretion.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions purports to exclude, restrict or modify, or has the effect of excluding, restricting or modifying the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Australian Consumer Law (Commonwealth).
Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) and associated associations, agencies and companies excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Promotion. Entrants indemnify the promoter against any loss, expense, damage liability incurred or suffered for any breach of these terms and conditions.
You will be asked to provide your name and contact information when you enter the promotion as specified at the time of entry. You must provide us with current, complete, and accurate information.
We and the companies associated with this promotion will use this information for:
- the purposes of conducting this promotion;
- keeping records associated with the promotion after the promotion has ended as required by law; and
- sending you promotional and marketing information about our events and products.
We will not use your personal information except in accordance with the purposes stated in these terms and conditions and as otherwise set out in our Privacy Statement.
By entering the promotion, you:
- grant the promoter permission to use your full name on our website for up to 12 months from the date of the promotion. The winner must also be available to undertake media and marketing activities as organised by the promoter
- other than the prize, will not receive any compensation for entering into the promotion, providing information as part of the entry process, or presenting my “Pitch” at the PitchFest event
- acknowledge that any material you provide in connection with the promotion is submitted voluntarily and not in confidence and no confidential or fiduciary relationship is intended or created between the promoter and you by reason of such submission or otherwise
